Maxine Chevron Skirt Crochet Pattern

When I first had the idea to crochet a long chevron skirt, I wanted the top portion to be solid stitches so it wouldn’t be see-through, and the bottom portion to have small holes at the peaks and valleys of the chevron while growing in width as it reaches for the floor.

This crochet chevron skirt turned out exactly as I had hoped! Available in a whopping ELEVEN sizes, everyone can wear and enjoy this simple skirt crochet pattern.

lightweight chevron skirt

We are using a fingering weight cotton or cotton blend to make this skirt. For mine I used Twister from Hobbii. I needed two solid color Twister cakes, then switched to ONE corresponding Twister gradient cake to finish it off.

Hobbii makes it easy for you to match colors because they even tell you which of the other Twister varieties match each gradient cake. How great is that? Scroll down to the description to see which color code to select from each. I love that they take the color guesswork out of the equation. 🙌🏻

Other great yarn options would include Twill Fingering, Comfy Fingering, or Gloss Fingering from WeCrochet.

Continue adding length if desired. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Finishing:

Use a yarn needle to weave the elastic thread along the inside of the band, under only the raised (would be the fp) post stitches. Work in a spiral for several rounds of the band until you feel satisfied with the amount of elastic support. Secure the ends and youโ€™re finished!

  1. I am working on the waistband of the Chevron skirt. Do you do a running stitch with the elastic thread? Does it need to be knotted along the way or just when you finish? Dhow tight do I pull the thread? Love your patterns and do very thankful you are offering free patterns with the option to buy the pdf. Thank you Theress
  2. This skirt looks awesome Iโ€™ve struggled with the waistband. But persevered! Now onto the chevrons. Can you tell me, if I purchase the pattern do you include a schematic diagram, as not sure my chevrons are sitting in the right places?
    1. Hi Caroline! The pdf pattern does not include a diagram, but if you would like to send a photo of what you've got done to sarah@hearthookhome.com, I can take a look and make sure you are on the right track!
  3. I almost missed this post! I'm so thrilled that I didn't! Thank you so much! I hope to make this for my Granddaughter for her Christmas present this year! She is perfect for this pattern! I will be looking for a top for it also. Any suggestions? She is 16? Thank you, Ashlea! CJ
