Hanging around the house in things you’ve crocheted never looked so chic! These crocheted socks come in five sizes so grab your fingering weight yarn and let’s make some socks!
Alpine Socks: Free Crochet Pattern
The fourth pattern in Sock Week is the one that started it all. The idea of Sock Week, that is! This pattern sort of happened on accident and I loved it so much I decided to design a whole week’s worth of socks using the same kind of construction.
This pattern uses the gorgeous Alpine Stitch and a fingering weight yarn. Stroll Effects is perfect for these socks because of the fiber content, but the colorways are divine as well! The pictured socks are using the “Koi Pond” colorway, and the video tutorial socks are made using the Eucalyptus Tonal colorway.
There are five sizes to this sock pattern. They are meant to be snug, so if you are debating which size to make it’s a safe bet to make the larger of the two.
Grab the ad-free, printable version of this pattern on Ravelry, Etsy, or right here in the Heart Hook Home Blog Shop. You can also grab the entire Sock Week Collection in one easy-to-read PDF (or here on Etsy). Thank you! If you need help reading a crochet pattern, make sure you head over here and check out this detailed post.
Materials:
Fingering/Size 1 yarn (Stroll Effects used)
-approx. (365, 440, 500, 600, 640) yards total
Crochet hook in size G/4mm or size needed to obtain gauge
Gauge: 16 Alpine sts and 18 rows in 3” (NOT the typical 4”)
Pattern Notes:
Pattern written using US terms.
For the toe section, mark the first st of each round with a stitch marker.
Odd numbered rounds are ”Right Side”.
The chain at the beginning of each round does NOT count as a stitch.
If you wish to make your socks taller, once past the ankle rows simply continue the “leg” to make them as tall as you like.
We are using the Alpine stitch which is composed of Double Crochets and Front Post Double Crochets. Find a full tutorial for this stitch here.
