Don’t you love trying new sock crochet patterns? This Spike Crochet Sock is sleek and warm and it feels great on. Let’s make a pair using this free pattern!

Spike Socks Crochet Pattern

The second pattern included in Sock Week is a streamlined sock using the Alternating Single Crochet Spike Stitch. This stitch creates a beautiful texture that is both sturdy and flat which makes it great for socks!

These crocheted socks are the perfect thing to keep your toes toasty warm in the colder months. I like to wear mine around the house, and perhaps do a little dancing in the kitchen.

For this pattern there are five sizes included and a video tutorial is in the works as well! See the “Sock Week” page here.

The first pattern in Sock Week was the Single Crochet Socks. Grab that pattern here!

Grab the ad-free, printable version of this pattern on Ravelry, Etsy, or right here in the Heart Hook Home Blog Shop. You can also grab the entire Sock Week Collection in one easy-to-read PDF (or here on Etsy). Thank you! If you need help reading a crochet pattern, make sure you head over here and check out this detailed post.

Materials:

Fingering/Size 1 yarn
*Capretta Fingering in โ€œMorelโ€ pictured
-approx. (300, 370, 440, 510, 560) yards total

Crochet hook in size 4mm or size needed to obtain gauge

Stitch markers

Gauge: 16 sts and 26 rows in 3โ€ square using the Alternating Single Crochet Spike Stitch (NOT the typical 4โ€)

Pattern Notes:

Pattern written using US terms.

The chain at the beginning of each round does NOT count as a stitch.

Even numbered rounds are โ€Right Sideโ€.

For the toe we are working in a spiral, for the foot and remainder we are joining and turning each round.

These are intended to be ankle socks. However, if you wish to make them taller, once past the ankle rows simply continue the โ€œlegโ€ to make the socks as tall as you like.

  1. I just finished working this pattern in a fine size 1 sock yarn. Everything went fine until it was time to seam the heel. The heel was far too short with only the one round of sc3tog. I added a couple sc rounds to the heel and it was still a stretched out seam in the back of the heel. My gauge was correct throughout the project, and I made a size 3 for my foot size.
