The Atlas Hoodie is the fifth and final design to be released from the new and gorgeous Alpine Collection. Grab your hooks and let’s work up the most stylish and comfortable crochet hoodie you ever did see using this free version of the pattern!
Atlas Hoodie (Alpine Collection)
The Atlas Hoodie is a size-inclusive, top-down, super chic crocheted hoodie pattern. The trifecta! This pattern is from the Alpine Collection, a group of FIVE crochet garment patterns that all feature, at least in part, the Alpine Stitch.
The Alpine Stitch is stunningly textured. The light plays beautifully off of the stitches, which are created using a combination of single crochet rows alternating with Double Crochet/Front Post Double Crochet rows. It’s not as difficult as you may think! The blanket pictured above is the new Comfort Crochet Blanket, the newest free pattern in the 2025 Donation Crochet Series.
This hoodie pattern ranges in size from XS to 5XL. This pattern also has INTERCHANGABLE sleeves with the Matterhorn Sweater! If you don’t like the bulkier sleeves used in this version of the Atlas Hoodie, simple swap them out for the same pattern size of the sweater pattern.
We have made sure that the stitch counts are the same at the armhole row on both of these patterns, meaning that you get to choose which sleeves you make! This could also be helpful if you think you may run out of yarn.
For the entire collection I am recommending Heatherly Sport yarn. This is a size 2/Sport weight that has an amazing drape and feels so soft on your skin. They have bunches of colorways and some amazing muted tones. Of course you can check out the size 2 yarn category on the Virtual Yarn Aisle for similar yarns.
See the Everest Poncho, the Matterhorn Sweater, the Kazbek Cardigan, the Ararat Sweater Vest individually, or get all FIVE designs in one ebook format.
Grab the ad-free, printable version of THIS pattern on Ravelry, Etsy, or right here in the Heart Hook Home Blog Shop. Thank you!

Gauge: 16 sts x 16 rows = 4โ using the Alpine Stitch
Gauge Swatch:
Row 1: Fdc-19 (or Ch-21, dc in 3rd ch from hook and in each to end). (19)
Row 2: Ch-1, turn, sc in each st to end. (19)

Pattern Notes:
Pattern written using US terms.
The chain at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.
On the double crochet rounds, always place the double crochet above the previous rowโs Fpdc and place the Fpdc around the double crochet from 2 rows below.
Making a size up from what you normally would is recommended in order to have enough room for other clothing underneath.
Abbreviations:
Ch(s): Chain(s)
Sc: Single Crochet
St(s): Stitch(es)
Dc: Double Crochet
Sk: Skip
Fpdc: Front post double crochet
Sl st: Slip stitch
Dc2tog/Dc3tog: Front post double crochet 2(3) together
Beg: Beginning
Hdcslst: Half double crochet slip stitch
Fpdc2tog = Front Post Double Crochet Two Together. This is a decrease used in the tapered version of the sleeves and to help shape the hood. To make this stitch, youโll do the first half of the stitch as a Front Post Double Crochet (leaving two loops on hook), skip the next stitch, and complete the second half of the stitch as a Front Post Double Crochet. This removes two stitches from the overall stitch count.
Fpdc3tog = Front Post Double Crochet Three Together. Same as Fpdc2tog above, except with three of the post stitches. This removes four stitches from the overall stitch count.
