We love our dogs. With their big brown eyes and their floppy ears, they are ready to be our best friends at a moment’s notice. I love how adorable my Cher and Maisey girls are naturally, but this month for the October installment of the 2024 Dog Crochet Series, we’re making them into other animals using this easy, customizable Dog Snood crochet pattern.

Dog Snood Costume Crochet Patterns

Available in FOUR sizes, your dog is sure to be adorable in their little snood. Fitting for the October installment of the 2024 Dog Crochet Series with Halloween approaching, I am personally only using this pattern for adorableness, costume, and photo purposes. Just something quick to work up that makes people smile. My favorite!

However, if your dog needs the added warmth around their ears during the freezing cold winter months then this could actually help them stay warm as well! Bear ears optional at that point.

What I hoped for with this dog snood crochet pattern was for it to be quick to work up and easy to crochet. The double crochet does just that.

For this Dog Snood pattern I am including several different animal embellishment ears/eyes options. There are bear ears, frog eyes, floppy bunny ears (or donkey ears depending on how you sew them on), and a unicorn horn and ear set.

Here’s my friend Jamie’s Boston Terrier, Max. How cute is he as a frog?!

Now that we’ve seen some of the cuteness, let’s get to the pattern so you can make your own! For this design we are using worsted weight yarn. Any worsted weight will do, such as Herrschner’s Worsted Value yarn, Brava Worsted, Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice, Mary Maxim Value yarn, or any other you have in your stash.

  1. Hello Ashlea, thank you for sharing your pattern, appreciate it. Do you have any suggestions on how to make a Lion mane Snood for a Chihuahua? Any help would be great, thank you.
    1. Hello! I'm thinking maybe just fringe all around the top opening of the snood and work down from there until you are happy?
