Free Dog Bandana Crochet Pattern
Oh, how I have enjoyed creating the 2024 Dog Crochet Series so far. I’ve loved seeing all of the adorable pups and kitties enjoying all of the fun things we’ve made this year. There’s been a LOT!
Pictured here are ONLY the patterns that have been released SO FAR in 2024… See ALL of the pet patterns here.
Today we’re whipping up super cute bandanas for the dogs to wear for family photos or after grooming, etc. How adorable!
Many dogs love to wear bandanas and show off how adorable they are. I love that you can make your own dog bandana in ANY color, and the size is completely customizable too!
This triangle shaped dog bandana is easy to work up. We start crocheting from the bottom point of the triangle, building onto both sides as we work our way up. This construction allows us to stop when we get the bandana to the desired size.
When we reach the desired height we create a small chain to assist in tying the bandana around the dog’s neck without using too much of the bulk of the actual bandana.
I decided to use a fingering weight or sock weight cotton for this pattern because I wanted it very lightweight and also not too bulky where it is tied.
For the gorgeous green version I used the “Peapod” colorway of Comfy Fingering yarn. For the red to gray version I used a sock weight yarn I had been holding onto from a local yarn shop purchase several years ago. I could never find the perfect pattern for it but I think this one’s a winner! How dapper are these pups?!

That’s it! How quick and easy was that bandana pattern? Honestly I think it would make for a gorgeous triangle shawl if you just kept going. Speaking of which… that means you could once again match your dogs! Just like the matching Wild Berry human and Wild Berry dog sweater patterns, this bandana could be a shawl combo!
Stay tuned for the next pattern in the 2024 Dog Crochet Series. New patterns in the series are always shared on the second Friday of the month. See you then!
