What’s the first thing a crocheter does when they get a new tablet or iPad? Make a fancy new crocheted tablet sleeve! This free crochet pattern for an iPad sleeve will also help to protect other devices such as Galaxy tabs and Fire Tablets. Available in two sizes and super plush to keep your new device safe.

Free iPad and Tablet Sleeve Crochet Pattern

For photo and video editing purposes I recently bought a new iPad. The older I get, the smaller those editing buttons get. Ha! I figure the bigger the screen the better, and with a new tablet comes the inevitable… a new crocheted iPad sleeve!

Whether you have a full size iPad, a Galaxy tab, an iPad Mini, or an Amazon Fire tablet… this sleeve will work for you! I have included two sizes for this sleeve pattern, one for tablets that are about 5.5″ x 7.5″ (14 x 19 cm) and one for tablets that are about 6.75″ x 10″ (17 x 25.5 cm).

I like to throw my iPad in my crochet bag so that I can have quick, almost computer-like access while I’m on the go. I can use my hot spot on my phone if needed or I can choose to “work offline” and have my work automatically synced when I return to my home’s wifi. Throwing it in my bag sounds great until you remember the crochet hooks that are in there, scissors, pens, and a ruler… among other things. The last thing I want to do is throw my new electronic device to the wolves! 😱

Sure, I could buy a cheap iPad or tablet sleeve online and call it good, but where’s the fun in that? That and I didn’t have the patience to wait for shipping, even if it is two-day. Silly, but true!

So here we are with a new tablet sleeve pattern that EVERYONE can use and love! I decided to use the Feather Stitch for this tablet sleeve because of how plush this stitch is. It is nice and thick which is great when you’re trying to protect things such as touchscreens.

iPad or tablet sleeve for full size or mini iPad, Galaxy tabs and Amazon Fire Tablets in three colors using the Feather Stich.

Note that for the design I used Caterpillar Yarn, a yarn that is now being discontinued. 😔 You could also use Dishie, Brava Sport, Chroma, or something else entirely like Lion Brand’s Mandala, Hobbii’s Friends cotton, or Mary Maxim’s Mellowspun or Prism.

    1. Also, I am confused because you seem to have duplicated/contradicting rounds 34 and 35. Thank you in advance for your clarification.
      1. Hi Carla! The numbers in parentheses correspond to the size being made (small, large). So, regarding your first comment, if you are making the small then you will do rounds 11 - 13 and if doing the large you will do rounds 11 - 14...each of those rounds will be a repeat of row 9. As for the rounds 34 and 35 issue, if you are making the small you will do rounds 29 - 34, and if making the large it will be rounds 35 -39. Does that make sense?
