Have you been looking for the perfect sweater to crochet for yourself? One that has amazing texture, a great fabric, and is super comfortable to wear? You’ll want one in ALL the colors. Grab your hook and choose from sizes XS through 5XL because it’s time to make one with this free crochet pattern!
Matterhorn Sweater (Alpine Collection)
The Matterhorn Sweater is the perfect top-down, comfortable, raglan style sweater to crochet for yourself this season. As part of the Alpine Collection this sweater is the classic style pullover in the bunch. You can grab the entire collection here on the Heart Hook Home Blog Shop or on Etsy.
The two designs in the collection that have already been released are the Everest Poncho (one size) and the Kazbek Cardigan (XS – 5XL).
The two after the Matterhorn Sweater will be the Ararat Sweater Vest (S – 5XL) and the Atlas Hoodie (XS – 5XL). Get the entire collection here.
For this entire collection I am recommending the Heatherly Sport yarn. This is a size two/sport weight yarn that is an 80% acrylic/20% wool blend. It works beautifully for these garments because it has a great drape and it hangs just lovely! There is a whole list of similar yarns in the Virtual Yarn Aisle under the size 2 yarn weight.
Now for the pattern!ย Grab the ad-free, printable version of this pattern onย Ravelry,ย Etsy, or right here in theย Heart Hook Home Blog Shop. Thank you!

Pattern Notes:

The chain at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.
On the double crochet rounds always place the double crochet above the previous rowโs Fpdc and place the Fpdc around the double crochet from 2 rows below.

Abbreviations:
Ch(s): Chain(s)
Sc: Single Crochet
St(s): Stitch(es)
Dc: Double Crochet
Sk: Skip
Fpdc: Front post double crochet
Sl st: Slip stitch
Hdcslst: Half double crochet slip stitch
Beg: Beginning
Fpdc2tog = Front Post Double Crochet Two Together. This is a decrease used in the tapered version of the sleeves. To make this stitch, youโll do the first half of the stitch as a Front Post Double Crochet (leaving two loops on hook), skip the next stitch, and complete the second half of the stitch as a Front Post Double Crochet. This removes two stitches from the overall stitch count.
Fpdc3tog = Front Post Double Crochet Three Together. Same as Fpdc2tog above, except with three of the post stitches. This removes four stitches from the overall stitch count.
