Between Memorial Day and the 4th of July, it’s time to whip up a patriotic crochet vest with fringe, don’t you think?
Patriotic Crochet Vest with Fringe Pattern
How chic is this patriotic vest?! Since all of our American holidays occur during the summer, we want this vest to be as open and airy as possible. We can’t be suffocating while watching the fireworks, now can we?! 😉 Wear a tank top underneath in red, white or blue and you are ready to celebrate America, friends. ♥
I almost like it better without the stars, but if you prefer them you’ll want to use this tutorial for How to Make a Crochet Star so that you can then add them to the front.
I decided to use filet crochet for this patriotic crochet vest pattern. All this means is that we are creating a crocheted “mesh” using the double crochet stitch and chain spaces. All double crochets will line up. We’ll leave the arm holes open, then add the fringe and the optional crocheted stars! Easy peasy!

Note that this pattern is for teens or adults. I wear a size L/XL in shirts and this pattern is intended to be a one-size-fits-most (with notes to adjust sizing). It is not meant to close in front, but to be a fun addition to your patriotic wardrobe. This pattern comes as a 2-in-1. In this pattern there are instructions for creating a vertical stripe vest and a horizontal stripe vest. The pattern carries instructions on how to make both versions larger if you want more of a flowy vest.
