In order to make this purse, you will need one ball of Curio #3 crochet thread (the grey is the “Whisker” colorway, the cream is the “Natural” colorway) and size 6/0 seed beads. The exact beads I used for the grey are the “Magic Copper” mixย and with the cream I used the “Autumn” mix here. I used 3 tubes for the full size purse.

For the credit card wallet I used part of a second ball of Curio #3, and one more tube of beads.

Pattern Notes:

Pattern written using US terms.

For the first few rounds of each (where you do not join at the end of the round) mark the first stitch of each row with a stitch marker.

In pattern, where it simply states “bead” this means to place a single crochet with a bead in that stitch.

  1. Hi! I just discovered your bead bag pattern on You Tube. I'm wondering...did you hand sew the purse lining and zipper or were they machine sewed? I love crochet, but am not real fond of sewing. Yours looks very professional! :)
    1. Hi! I did it by hand =) I do have a tutorial on how I do this here: https://hearthookhome.com/how-to-add-a-zipper-to-crochet/
  2. Any guidance on gauge? My 1st attempt at the credit card wallet turned out too wide, but the correct height.
  3. Hi Ashlea, Iโ€™m having trouble with the starting round. Every time I crochet 6 sc in the 2nd chain from hookโ€ฆI end up with a big hole in the ring. On that same round, when I turn to work up the other side, when I crochet into the space, I also end up with holes all the way down the chain 18. What do you think Iโ€™m doing wrong? Roxanne
  4. Hello!! Is there a tutorial on this bag? I'd love to make it for my girls but I'm a newbie and need to follow along :)
  5. Hi Ashlea, I got my beads and yarn. My beads are a different brand. Any idea how long your bead string was before you started crocheting? My beads came in a big container. I just want to make sure I have enough strung before I start.
  6. Yes body need bag, is there a way I can print it ? Or purchase it? Read from my phone is to hard, and I do not have a computer to make it bigger. Thank you
