Do you have a special someone in your life that is wanting to learn how to crochet? Everyone needs a crochet buddy to bond with over a mutually loved hobby. Or, if you are looking for resources to teach someone how to crochet, you’re in the right place! Here you’ll find a list of excellent beginner crochet books.
Excellent Beginner Crochet Books
One of the most-asked questions I get is “How do I teach someone to crochet?” Even if you are a great crocheter yourself, often it is hard to teach someone else how to do it. Whether that is due to the proximity of the one wanting to learn or just not knowing how to teach someone else.
Every person learns differently and what works for one person may not work for another. Some people can watch a video and learn everything that they need, while others can only learn by having a picture step-by-step visual guide. Giving a variety of tools is the best way to help someone learn and let them choose what clicks for them.
If you want to give teaching a try, but don’t know where exactly to start, you can find an arsenal of tips, tutorials, and suggested tools for Absolute Beginners here. Begin with a crochet hook and some yarn, and then move on to teaching the basics such as how to chain stitch and eventually how to read a crochet pattern.
What are good Beginner crochet projects to start with? Washcloths and scarves are great first time projects. The new crocheter can master a new stitch as well as work on their tension. Make sure to tell them about your first project (we ALL have horror stories 😅) and to have patience while learning a new skill.
Other great ways to teach someone long distance is a book with clear photos to help master the stitches. I’ve researched and found some great ones that will have your friend crocheting with you in no time flat.
